[CWE Flow-Based Market Coupling] Decommissioning of Emile Huchet 6

Dear Market Parties,

According to the latest news, the 31st of March 2022 will be the last day in operation for unit 6 of Emile Huchet power plant (Unit 6: coal reactor). Emile Huchet is located in eastern part of France close to the border with Germany and the reactor 6 can generate 600 MW.

Despite the position of this unit, this decommissioning won’t lead to a SPAIC analysis. Indeed the very limited usage of this unit over the past 2 years (8% of TS with reactor in service in 2020 and 2021) won’t lead to significant impact on cross border capacities.

Furthermore, most of the timestamp of the reference days picked from the SPAIC methodology would be without this unit in service, therefore without any change on the result of the capacity calculation.
