Important notice: Temporary change for DK1-DE, DK1-NL, and DK2-DE in case of decoupling

Important, major changes are coming to the electricity market, such as the intraday and day-ahead markets changing from hourly time units to 15-minute time units – a necessary change in a green energy system, where production and consumption becomes more volatile, requiring shorter intervals for trading to ensure a balanced electricity system and, thus, electricity supply.

In connection with the 15-minute project, the IT-solution for Energinet’s three interconnectors to the South in the” Hansa” region, DK1-DE, DK1-NL, and DK2-DE, will be moved to a new, internal IT-system. This means that the new system must be adapted to also support the fallback solution” shadow auctions” on the three interconnectors.

Unforeseen extra IT development for the 15-minute project has required that Energinet prioritize this development over the planned development of the system to be able to handle “shadow auctions”.

If the three interconnectors decouple from the single day-ahead market coupling, “shadow auctions” will therefore NOT be performed by JAO. The capacity will be allocated to the intraday market instead.
