[Channel Region] Update on consequences of “no deal Brexit”

Published:

Dear Market Participants,

The TSOs of BritNed, IFA and NemoLink would like to inform you about the potential consequences of Brexit on the implicit day ahead market coupling. In case the United Kingdom leaves the EU without a deal on 29 March 2019, access to the internal energy market will be removed. The consequence of this is removal of the UK from implicit day ahead market coupling. The last implicit allocation on BritNed, IFA and Nemo Link will take place on 29 March (D-1), for delivery date 30 March (D), the allocated capacity for the 30th will remain unchanged. The first explicit allocation for day ahead capacity on the BritNed, IFA and NemoLink interconnectors will take place on 30 March (D-1), for delivery date 31 March (D).

Most of the relevant regulators (except ACM, but intends to do later due to procedural issues) have approved the non-IEM access rules (general provision, allocation and nomination rules in case of Brexit) and these rules will published on the website of the relevant NRAs and Interconnectors.
