Brexit transition - End of the transitional period on 31st December 2020 following the withdrawal of the UK and Northern Ireland from EU
Dear Market Participant,
Following the departure of the United Kingdom from the European Union on 31st January 2020 (the “withdrawal date”) and the forthcoming end of a time-limited transitional period which will operate until 31st December 2020 (the “transitional period”), JAO hereby would like to restate and/or clarify the following aspects of a no-deal Brexit. The official guidance on the Brexit transition by the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy is available here.
In terms of capacity products available on JAO’s platform, the transmission capacity of electricity between Great Britain and the EU Internal Energy Market through interconnectors will result in new and/or no longer available capacity products (highlighted in blue within the table attached).
To register under the relevant non-IEM allocation rules, market participants are highly encouraged to submit their registration documents to JAO by 21st December 2020.
To ensure a smooth registration process during Christmas and the holiday season, we recommend you sending the documents signed with a Qualified electronic signature (QES) conforming to the eIDAS regulation via our Service desk or provide us with a scan of the handwritten originals prior to sending them via ordinary post.
Best regards,
JAO Operations Team
