CAPACITY AVAILABILITY AT GREECE-ITALY INTERCONNECTION
September 20th, 2018
With reference to the notice published on September 3rd 2018 on JAO website about the unavailability of the link between Italy and Greece, Terna and ADMIE inform market participants that the fault is located on the undersea part of the cable. Due to the location of the fault, it is necessary to involve in the restoration activities a special cable repair ship. Restoration activities are currently expected to be completed by the end of October.
During the outage period, the NTC between Greece and Italy will be set to zero (0) in both directions and daily auctions will not be held. Moreover, also the monthly auctions for the month of October will not be carried out.
The Joint Allocation Office (JAO) will curtail the long-term capacities already allocated till October 6th h24:00, when the limit for curtailments of 45 equivalent days pursuant to art. 3.2 of the “Regional Specific Annex for CCR Greece-Italy (GRIT) to the Harmonised Allocation Rules for long-term transmission rights” will be reached on both border directions. Therefore, starting from October 7th h00:00 and till the restoration of the cable, Terna and ADMIE will guarantee the long-term PTRs already assigned for the year 2018.
Terna and ADMIE will do their best to timely inform market participants through JAO and their websites about the evolution of the restoration activities.
