Information on exact operational security limit(s) that are expected to be violated in the absence of curtailment *:
There is a single Tie line (275kV) between N. Ireland and Ireland and there is a limit on the MW that can flow between regions. High imports on the Moyle interconnector with the low forecast Sunday overnight demand is expected to cause contingency violations on the island.
Why alternative measures are not sufficient to avoid the expected violation of operational security limit(s) *?
Alternative measures have been taken as the demand has fallen in N. Ireland. SONI TSO has scheduled the minimum generation level (3 sets) required for system security. After taking these alternate measures, contingency violations are still expected by SONI TSO unless the import NTC is reduced.
