Update on ST auctions on Swiss borders in 15 min MTU and Block bids Go-live timeline + Survey on the preferred implementation approach

Dear Market Participants,


Following our previous communication from 30 of June 2026 we would like to provide you with an update regarding the go‑live timeline for the 15‑minute MTU and Block Bids implementation for auctions on the Swiss borders.


The intended implementation of the 15-minute MTU capacity allocation process is targeted for late Q1 2027. This timeline remains subject to ongoing discussions and confirmation by Market Participants, TSOs, and National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs) regarding the preferred implementation approach. In line with standard practice, an appropriate testing phase will also be provided to allow market participants sufficient time to prepare their systems and operational processes ahead of go-live.


Following consultations with market participants and discussions with TSOs, the proposed block bid solution has been significantly simplified. The revised design reflects the feedback received from stakeholders and aims to strike an appropriate balance between market needs, operational efficiency, and implementation complexity.


The simplified block bid solution will be implemented as part of the Orion auction platform and will therefore become available upon the deployment of that platform, which is currently not expected to go live before September 2027. 


The postponement of the JAO implementation was driven by a combination of unforeseen circumstances, project interdependencies, and extensive design discussions with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), including feedback received during consultations with market participants. These discussions have been instrumental in ensuring that the solution delivered meets stakeholder expectations and supports long-term market needs.
